HOLA AMIGOS! Thank you for your important contributions!
Today more than ever, Enseña por Panamá works to promote quality education in every corner of the country. In 2021 we managed to directly impact the lives of more than 2800 students and 3200 teachers of the official system.
With the experience and learnings of five years, we transformed ourselves to respond to new challenges through three lines of action:
In this report, we would like to focus on our “Strengthening of capacities of the educational system that contribute to greater educational access, development of skills and learning of boys and girls at the preschool level.”
During 2020 and 2021, UNICEF and Enseña por Panamá signed a cooperation agreement with the objective of generating capacity in the educational system at the early childhood and Premedia levels. From this collaboration, significant advances were achieved and work was done with MEDUCA to adapt the Educational System in the context of the emergency, however, technical and administrative efforts are still required to contribute to the strengthening of teachers.
The new Cooperation Program 2021 - 2025 between the Government of the Republic of Panama and UNICEF has a life cycle approach, prioritizing the full development of early childhood and adolescence. To achieve this, it is essential to continue combining technical efforts to strengthen institutional capacities that promote better learning for children and adolescents and, in turn, counteract or mitigate the risk of educational exclusion.
To this end, UNICEF and Enseña por Panamá will support the educational system in strengthening teachers and student learning at the national level, especially in areas of greatest vulnerability and with a focus on strengthening the pedagogical skills of teachers and teaching directors. early childhood, as well as their social-emotional skills.
In the current context caused by the pandemic, Enseña por Panamá together with UNICEF will develop the following fundamental components:
1. Pedagogical training for educational agents of the Comprehensive Care Centers for Early Childhood (CAIPI).
2. Continuous education for teachers and teaching directors of the system through a training program to strengthen their pedagogical skills.
3. Training in socio-emotional skills for preschool teachers and members of the Ministry of Education's psycho-pedagogical cabinet that allows them to better accompany the children in the classroom.
The implementation of this program is expected between July 2022 and May 2023. In addition, there will be close coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development, the different related operating units or other counterparts, and the focus of the program will be the strengthening of technical capacities of MEDUCA and MIDES the transfer of knowledge to the technical and decision-making teams.
• Personnel from the early childhood comprehensive care centers (CAIPI) of the Ministry of Social Development have received training aimed at strengthening the skills and competencies of educational agents to promote loving and sensitive care in care centers, as well as role of the caregiver as an enhancer of the development of children.
• Teachers, directors and teaching supervisors receive training in Caring and Sensitive Care and Preschool Education: integrated approaches to teaching and learning, contributing to the quality of early childhood education services.
• Preschool teachers and members of the Ministry of Education's psycho-pedagogical office have received training in socio-emotional skills that allow them to both better manage their emotions and support their students in emotional management. As well as promoting positive interactions in their school communities and reducing the use of violent discipline in the classroom (making the school a safe environment).
