Thank you very much for all your generous contributions and donations that make us get that important work for reintegrating war-affected individuals done.
We had a productive business mentorship session at the Terra Renaissance Center in Kanyagoga “A” for the 11th intake beneficiaries on the 18th August, 2023.
The ultimate goal of the mentorship was to enhance a participatory peer-to-peer session of information and experience sharing, validation and inspiration by the former learners to the current learners at Terra Renaissance in order to inspire, motivate and uplift themselves towards starting and growing their businesses.
The mentorship drew 48 current trainees and invited five former trainees with two of them being Fashion Designers and three carpenters where the former learners shared their business experiences, challenges in their businesses, and other useful tips for successful Carpentry and fashion business operations.
The participatory session included sharing how their businesses started, challenges faced in their businesses, what to avoid in business, what to consider important in business, lessons learned from their personal experiences and guidance on proper customer handling.
We believe that the current learners immensely gained from the mentorship that will strengthen their confidence to start their businesses, grow their business abilities, improve their business skills, avoid similar mistakes made by the former students and draw further insights to solve their own problems in their future businesses.
When we know better, we do better, our lives become better and our social relations with others become better as shared by one of the former trainees who said that, “My Aunt and relatives stigmatized and mistreated me with my children before my training at Terra, but now everybody loves me with all my children as I have gained many relatives and friends due to my good work and now I sleep peacefully in my own house and I earn not less than 10,000 UGX daily.
