Recarga tu SOLE: the power of being together

Ambassadors of Valle and Cauca Region, in Cali

There is no brief way in which I can express in words what we have experienced in these last two weeks... and all this that I am going to tell you is only possible thanks to your support.

The Recarga tu SOLE meetings have been a torrent of emotions, of affection, of pride, of desire to continue and of certainty that what we are doing together is changing lives. How do I know? I will tell you about it.

In Cali we met with the SOLE Ambassadors from the communities of Valle and Cauca: La Floresta and Lomitas in Pradera, Dominguillo in Santander de Quilichao, Calle Larga in Buenaventura, El Agrado in Piendamó. In Coveñas, those from the Montes de María Region attended: Nuevo Manzanares, La Estación, and La Siria in Sucre, El Bongal and La Haya in Bolívar. In Barbosa, the La Meseta in Anorí, Monte Frío in Valdivia, Puerto Bégica in Cáceres, Las Delicias Piedras in Tarazá, La Capilla and Villa Grande in El Bagre.

I tell you the truth, for me they were unknown places until very recently, just completely green spaces in GoogleMaps, where you can't even see a road that connects them with other nearby places. And so I decided to look for them and create this Weaving Lives and Hope 2023 Map, where you can virtually approach each of the places where this year we have installed a SOLE and where La Nube de Abuelitas accompanies the SOLE Ambassadors who are creating an equitable and beautiful future together, one Big Question at a time.

The Recharge your SOLE Meetings have allowed us to encourage the Ambassadors, to remember the basic principles of the methodology and, above all, to embrace each other for the first time... Ambassadors and Nube de Abuelitas in person, for the first time!

What did we do during these days of intense work?

We learned to improve our Big Questions: the Big Questions that come from our own territories, from the places where our heart beats strong for things that disgust us or make our life more difficult (how to recover the water of the river? what are the consequences for the environment of throwing garbage?), also for those things that make us happy and proud (how to recover our ancestral knowledge about agriculture? what are the signs of our indigenous identity?). They can also come from our history (why was there so much persecution of poor people by the authorities? how to know what a baby wants?).

We learned how to better convene communities and coordinate with La Nube de Abuelitas, we also learned how to use design tools to create powerful invitations that engage the community.

How to better reflect on the sessions, so that the results can be tracked over time, this year we will be able to follow in real time how we are improving technology skills in the communities.

And, a wonderful thing, we discovered how we are weaving our present and future together with SOLE across questions, communities and years: last year's Weaving Ambassadors are cultivating these ties to give support and sustainability to their regions, transforming this project into a movement.

And we also had time to celebrate life and encounters, get pretty, sing and dance together.... Cheers dear Godmothers!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Salud, queridas Madrinas
