They are known by many names, such as plush toys, plushies, stuffed animals. We like to call them stuffies, and we put one in all of our Comfort Cases. Thanks to you, we have to date distributed more than 200,000 stuffies!
Being placed into foster care causes a child emotional and psychological trauma. It is an extraordinarily stressful event that shatters their sense of security, making them feel helpless. Psychological trauma like this can leave a child struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that won’t go away.
Stuffed animals can help increase happiness and improve self-esteem, especially for children who are recovering from trauma and suffering from self-loathing. One benefit of sleeping with stuffed animals is that it helps both children and adults express their emotions better, and it elicits a feeling of unconditional love and support.
Can you imagine? More than 200,000 children have received a Comfort Case with their very own stuffy – thanks to you!
Speaking with therapists we know who work with children in foster care, these stuffies have accompanied children to appointments when these children have made very courageous leaps in their healing.
So, friend, it's important you know the extent of the strength and encouragement you provide when you support Comfort Cases. We are deeply appreciative of your support.
