Our true stories #11

By Fenia Biniari | Communications Manager

Dear GlobalGivers,

Amid challenging circumstances, a young boy named Kaidar has discovered his passion for music, defying the odds and overcoming adversity. At just 13 years old, residing in the Refugee Camp of Schisto in Greece, Kaidar's life has been transformed by his participation in the music classes of  El Sistema Greece. Originally drawn to football, his path took an unexpected turn when he discovered the enchanting world of music. Today, Kaidar aspires to become a maestro, a testament to the transformative power of music and the indomitable spirit of a young refugee.

When Kaidar first arrived at El Sistema Greece, his interest lay solely in the world of sports, particularly football. Everything changed though when he was introduced to the captivating beauty of the violin. The delicate instrument spoke to him in a way that words never could. With the guidance of dedicated teachers, Kaidar embarked on a transformative musical journey that would forever alter his aspirations. Through countless hours of practice and unwavering dedication, he discovered a profound connection to the violin. The instrument became an extension of his emotions, allowing him to express his innermost thoughts and dreams. As he delved deeper into his musical studies, Kaidar's talent blossomed, leaving a lasting impression on his teachers and peers alike.

With each passing day, Kaidar's passion for music grew stronger. From a young boy with no prior musical background, he began to develop the skills and techniques he was taught by his teachers and recently shared with us that he aspires to become a maestro. Kaidar's extraordinary journey serves as an inspiration not only to the people within the refugee camp but also to individuals around the world. His resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit defy the constraints of his circumstances. Through his musical talent and unwavering pursuit of excellence, Kaidar breaks down barriers, proving that dreams can flourish even in the most challenging environments. Music is a platform to express his talent and aspirations and his story  is an inspiring reminder of the potential that lies within individuals, even in the face of challenging circumstances.

This story illustrates the profound impact that small steps can have in bringing about significant change. We are immensely grateful to have your unwavering support as we continue taking these steps towards the social development of children.

With great appreciation,

Friends of El Sistema Greece
