Report 15
Dear Family/Donors,
Last report we introduced you to our new grantees, and in this report, we share some of their discoveries at our courses and school, as well as the results of the grant received for Amazon region.
Master grantees
Tatiana (45 years old – attorney)
– “Doing a master's degree has always been my dream, but I've been postponing it for years due to the demands of work and family. After 15 years I decided that the time had come to fulfill my dream and also because I felt the need to take this important step in my professional career. I am the Executive Secretary of an Environmental NGO and I represent it in several congresses, symposiums and events and having a master's degree opens you up to new possibilities within these environments, not to mention the baggage of knowledge that you acquire over these 18 months and still relationship network that you connect. A great gift. I am very grateful for the GG scholarship, because without it I would not have been able to pursue that. The classes are amazing, and the teachers are amazing. In 4 months of class I already felt a lot of difference in my work routine, and decision making. Just gratitude.”
Harrison (33 years old - environmental manager)
-“From a very early age I realized that in order for me to feel completely fulfilled as a person I would need to work for something that made sense, that was bigger than me, and that was good for everyone. Soon, nature conservation and a love for animals filled this space and made my life a journey of love, adventure and learning.
The IPÊ Master's degree, even at the beginning, already brought insights and experiences that strengthened this choice. The experience transmitted by the teachers, the knowledge and exchange of information with colleagues makes this moment something unique. I heard a lot from some people that this master's degree would change a lot of things in me and that it would broaden horizons, but I didn't imagine that it would happen so quickly.
I feel privileged to be part of this team and I feel that ESCAS will be part of my life as a whole and not only academically or professionally, but as a human being, as part of something really bigger, a collaborative network of people who not only fight for conservation, but understand and apply nature conservation techniques, mechanisms and policies.”
Lillian (37 years old - environmental manager)
-"Working and focusing on the area of environmental conservation has been my greatest desire since I as a undergraduate student. However, it has not been an easy path, sometimes I did not had the opportunity and a frustration of perhaps having taken the wrong path. So, I looked for courses that could lead me to this path, but the few found with the desired focus at the time were outside SP and did not seem possible to reconcile with professional life. In the meantime, I did an exchange program to increase my skills with English. And, in 2022, driven by being happier in my professional life, I decided to face the challenge, and the only thing that interested me was the exact format of ESCAS, now also feasible trough the scholarship, and today I am here very happy for every class, project, people and opportunities that help me to fly!
Thank you so much for this opportunity."

MBA Grantee
Fernanda (38years old - animal husbandry)
- “The Socio-Environmental Business Management MBA has been amazing! With a very consistent programmatic content and corresponding to the reality of the moment, mainly when dealing with Bioeconomy and all its aspects. All teachers are very well qualified in their subjects, both in theory and in practice, and classmates are also excellent professionals in their areas, with many experiences and experiences, contributing to very rich discussions and exchanges of knowledge during classes.
The opportunity to get a scholarship to take this course is a very important fact in my life and professional career, as I would not be able alone to achieve that. I work in the region of the lower Rio Negro, in the Amazon, with indigenous and caboclo communities. What I'm learning in the MBA, I can immediately put into practice in my field."
Our MBA students, during the months of October, November and December were involved with the following classes and subjects:

Navigating Entrepreneurial Education in the Amazon
We have already started to show the results in two past reports, but here is the finalization of the project.
In the 17 benefited riverside communities, the most important undertakings that have already been carried out are Fishing, Agriculture, Tourism and Handicrafts. These last two have a more developed structure, and some community members already receive visits and sell their products.
The second phase of the project carried out training in 3 poles, encompassing the 17 communities. Courses were held to adapt the developments to the COVID 19 protocols, and in the third phase, Business Management. This training had 11 volunteer mentors from different companies and with a lot of experience. First, the Word Café dynamic was held in four rooms, each with a theme raised by community entrepreneurs as the biggest challenges in business: Financial Management, Legal Management, Communication/Marketing and Logistics. Community entrepreneurs spoke individually with experts for half an hour, on each topic about their difficulties in business and received tips on how to solve them. Community members left with plans and worksheets to use in their daily lives. 21 enterprises were selected to receive seed investments for their small businesses, and which will be monitored. The project has already new Sponsors for this monitoring phase.
Ok, so good for now. New grantees with their wishes, perceptions and achievements and new future to the community entrepreneurs, always trough Education.
Thank you all for your support. Share with you friends and help us with our social and environmental impacts.
