Adapting tenderly to new challenges

Online Classes

Dear Family/Donors,

How are you doing? Hope you are safe and well.

With the COVID-19 Global crisis, our school is adapting to new challenges in the way to reach our students and grantees and maintain our mission and capacitating skills.

As it is impossible to join students and teachers in the same space, we decided to offer online classes, and begun to have a weekly meeting with our MBA participants. Of course it is not the same of been together, but the students and professors are giving their best to maintain a productive and rich discussion.

In the last module, we worked the Supply Value Chain concepts, with the collaboration of Roberto Palmieri as the specialist coordinating the classes. Roberto is the executive of IMAFLORA (www.imaflora.org), an NGO that works on environment conservation focusing on sustainable production in the agricultural sector. Using their expertise on a variety of Amazonian projects, the module brought a rich debate on conservation Vs sustainable development, through practical exercises and case analysis.

As a result, the students could also help the organization, producing an analysis of a business model used by IMAFLORA to join Amazonian local communities to markets, and giving suggestions and new ideas.

An MBA course can have social impact, if we work on challenges.

Tenderly, with lots of collaboration, and with our students and grantees as priorities, we are advancing in the course and in the mission of having more and more transformations in our society, towards business and activities that unite the social, the environmental and the economic values.

A little taste of what our students have.

Dear Family/Donors,

In our last report, we introduced you to our new MBA students and our special grantee Letícia. In this report, we will show you a little bit of their activities and learning during the classes. During the first module, they were introduced to general concepts of social issues, environmental history, ethics and socio environmental business. We received masters from those fields to the classes and former grantee TINA.

The continuation modules involved the themes: Sustainability Strategies and Socioenvironmental Innovations – concepts, learning and challenges. We received a prominent Brazilian Scientist Dr. Carlos Nobre, to speak about Amazonian, climate change and socioenvironmental business. The class was full of guests and enthusiastic discussions.

The goal is to stimulate in our students the comprehension of those fields, so they can identify opportunities and ways to socioenvironmental value generation inside companies and markets. We always have theory and practice, because our students are and will be even more change makers.

All reflections we do during the course are built to contribute in the understanding of the potentials and limits of innovative solutions in our societies. We learn to involve distinct social actors to reach the Sustainable Development Goals, provoking disruptive change in a road to social change.

I am sure that you will feel from our pictures and videos that our students are doing their best, and we once more acknowledge you for that! Please, share the reports with friends and colleagues and help us to continue a place where you and others can make a difference.

Dear Family/Donors,

Finally, we implemented our new MBA Class in the year of 2019!!!!!! In this report, we will introduce the new students to you.

We do not have as many students as we wish, we still need to raise more resources for our seed Scholarship Fund, but to continue our educational work is imperative. Our country is in the middle of a crisis, as many of other countries around the world. The need to change our way to do business is strong and urgent. We need young people with knowledge and entrepreneurial minds to work for a better place to us.

We have 11 students: architects, agronomists, former CEOs, designers, forestry engineers. Professionals that work on indigenous people in Amazon, with communication, with forest restoration, with small farmers, a lot of diversity in the class.

We began the classes last month and still need more time to know them, but the first classes week was full of curiosity and ideas to share.

A special moment was having TINA, one of our former grantees as a teacher in this week! Tina spoke about her work in Amazon with sustainable nuts channel and communities.

In this Class, there are one grantee, LETICIA. Leticia is a special student, she has a hearing deficiency, but she is engaged, participative and very brave. She wants to make a difference, and we want to help her to achieve that!

We are in the beginning of a new journey, as all our new classes are different. We will share with you all the moments and discoveries, and thank you again for your support and participation.
