New Toilets and a Jungle Gym Charity Challenge!

Mmakadi Creche

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for your support on one of our newest projects in Limpopo, South Africa. As you know, this project aims to further support Mmakadi Crèche in the local village of Oaks. We have been working closely with the crèche for well over a year now on various education initiatives and fundraising activities.

Towards the end of last year, we teamed up with our volunteers to help replace the simple bucket toilets the staff and children were using which were presenting a range of hygiene issues. With fundraising over the last few months, including a major shave-a-thon and some impressive plumbing skills from one of our volunteers, we are proud to announce that there are now TWO flush toilets operating at the crèche. Our volunteers also decided to add art to the project by making an animal themed sign for Mmakadi.

Our next project is to build a wood-pole jungle gym for the children. Thanks to your funds we will be starting construction on the 15th of March as part of our latest Charity Challenge. The GVI staff and volunteers, under the supervision of a local community builder, will be putting the jungle gym together for the children. Volunteers will be raising funds to participate in the challenge, as an additional funding source for the future needs of Mmakadi.

It is our hope to continue making vital improvements to the education facility through donations from this project, so that we can have a bigger impact on the learning environment and working conditions at Mmakadi.

Thank you again for your support.

All the best.
