Staying 1 foot infront of the poachers.

By Annie Peatling | Funding & Reporting

Dear GlobalGiving Family,

We are making significant strides in protecting endangered species within Manyoni Private Game Reserve, but the need for advanced anti-poaching strategies has never been more urgent. In recent months, we have had several attempted poaching incidents targeting our rhino population, reinforcing the critical need for enhanced surveillance and security. Thanks to recent advancements, we are strengthening our efforts, but continued funding is essential to stay ahead of poachers.

Drones: A Game-Changer in Anti-Poaching

We are incredibly fortunate to have received drone services support from Pacsys Conservation, which have proven to be one of the most effective tools in detecting poaching activity and supporting our Anti-Poaching Unit (APU). These drones allow for rapid response, aerial surveillance, and real-time tracking, significantly improving our ability to monitor and protect wildlife across the reserve. However, to fully implement this technology, we urgently need funding to support the operational costs and expand drone deployment across the reserve. Keeping our teams equipped with the best tools is vital to ensuring that we stay ahead of poachers.

Expanding Camera Trap Surveillance

We have also secured 10 additional camera traps, further strengthening our surveillance efforts. These high-resolution, motion-triggered cameras provide invaluable insights into wildlife movement, population monitoring, and potential threats. By expanding our camera network, we are improving our ability to track endangered species like leopards and pangolins while increasing security across key areas of the reserve.

Why We Must Act Now

With poaching attempts on the rise, implementing these strategies has become more critical than ever. Raising funds to support and expand our APU’s capabilities ensures that our teams remain sharper and better equipped than the poachers they are up against. The survival of our protected species depends on proactive, cutting-edge security measures, and every contribution helps us maintain and improve these efforts.

Your support makes a direct impact. Whether by funding drone operations, expanding surveillance, or strengthening our on-the-ground teams, your donation helps safeguard the rhinos and other endangered species that rely on us.

Thank you for standing with us in this fight for conservation.

With gratitude,
Annie Peatling
