What's been happening at Ojala Ninos

dirt and worms
dirt and worms

We can hardly believe it's already June! With less restrictions but keeping safety measures in place, the children are utilizing our space on the property where we eventually hope to have a full building. We have planted a garden where the kids are learning to care for it as well as what plants and vegetables grow well here in our high desert. We have a wonderful volunteer guiding that workshop.

We have a covered area where we conduct outdoor classes and meetings and can now even offer a space to the community for special occasions.

The kids have formed a soccer team and again with fabulous volunteers, they are learning technical skills, sportsmanship and just having fun.

We have volunteers for our choir group and hopefully the kids will sing at the annual writers conference again, held every year in San Miguel. The kids are so proud and it's great exposure for our organization.

We have music and we have dance, we offer English classes and most effective are the tutoring classes that the children need to catch up, on a years absence from formal schooling.

The property has water now and is illuminated yet we still need a real structure for colder months and our monsoon rains which are right around the corner.

Some of the children's mothers are in a sewing class, learning to sew on machines. This is a skill everyone can use.

There is a general feeling that the worst of the pandemic is over yet we continue to be vigilent and take safety measures. lets stay well and be smart and keep our doors open to continue offering classes and workshops to the community of San Miguel Viejo.

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely

Betty Lopez
