Moving Forward in a New Normal

Hello

As many organizations and business start to reopen, a new normal is underway.  We really are just waiting to get a green light from the municipality. We know fully vaccinated people are less likely to get infected and less likely to spread the infection. With that in mind we are requirig that anyone on our team in direct contact with kids and parents, be vaccinated. Following all guidelines we will continue with social distancing, hand washing, wearing of facemasks and thorough cleaning before and after of learning spaces.

We hope to provide each child with their own kit of tools and supplies to use while on site, we hope this will help with curbing even the spread of the common cold. We provide a snack each day for the children so safe shopping and food handling procedures are followed fully.

This year has been tough for all. The state of Guanajuato where we are located ranks 2nd in migrants seeking a better life or simply a way to survive in the United States. Our latest census shows 833 inhabitants in our community. 31% our children under 14 years of age. This is the age group we directly serve. The children have been in virtual learning classes for over a year now. It will most likely be September when we can return to in person classes. More than ever we are anxious to get back to regular clases and workshops. Without structure, children do not develope security or self-discipline. We know social isolation can cause depression and possible anxiety.

We have been using our lot to distribute at home activities and lunch and are happy to report continuation in the structural security of the wall. We have many expectations and hopes for the property. It is our goal to have a model learning center for this community!

A reminder that Hope, is an illusion without opportunity. We thank you, our supporters for helping us offer opportunity to those who have so little.

Stay Well
