Dear Friends.

Thank you for your donations and support. So far SHD has managed to raise $14,390 to help intelligent but needy students.

Society for Human Development has provided the scholarships on two levels.

1. A Reach out to the poor villages in Toba Tek Singh, where some families are sending their kids to school for the first time. SHD has helped the families to pay their admission fee, to get the books, stationary and uniform for the year. So far 30 children (aged 3-9 years and belonging to the extremely poor families)  have been supported  financially and now all children are going to the neaest schools regularly. SHD is also facilitating them in transportation as well. Some children from an extremely poor background from Toba Tek Singh have been enrolled in the nearest Missionary School with the support of SHD. The children are very much excited about the school.

2. Scholarships to 64 students which were struggling in their higher studies due financial restrictions. The scholarships were given to the college and university students enrolled in intermediate, Undergraduate and Post Graduate Degree Courses . These scholarships have been given in Pakpattan, Lahore, Sahiwal, Toba and Jhang districts.

Arslan (A 5 year kid from Toba Tek Shingh ) after receiving support from SHD, is very excited.According to his parents "He used to play in the village streets all day long. We wanted to send him to school but havent got enough resources. Now we are happy that we can see our son going to school. After getting enrolled in school , he does not want to get late.  He is very punctual. We want to thank SHD for supporting us"

Lateef (Van driver of SHD) explains why he is convinced of getting the village kids to school." I was the first in my family that went to school.Me and my brothers worked as a full time in a brick kiln. Later, i left the job and started going to school. I did upto Class VIII and learned cooking and driving. I began working for the famiily of Captain Sanaullah (Parliamentarian). The others in the family got a chance of going to school.Later, I joined SHD and my brothers (who were working at a brick kiln) completed their post graduation. Today I am convincing my village and other village kids to get education. Many kids are the first in their families going to school. The van is bringing children to St Peter's School. So far 66 kids are coming to school from different villages. Hopefully, the number will jump to 100"

The Scholarship program for the intelligent but needed students has proven to be a success. Many students have found hope of continuing their education, through this project. We would like to request all our donors and supporters to keep supporting our cause .
