BREAD Society has set up 1,159 children's libraries in the last ten years, 135 of them during the current financial year (April 2018 to March 2019). We have set up a library with Rs. 40,000 in January 2019 at ZPHS, Masapet in Rayachoti Mandal of Kadapa district with donations received from GlobalGiving Foundation. We have invested the balance amount of donation from GGF, Rs.28,000 as Corpus for replenishing books.
Government of Andhra Pradesh has issued orders to Regional Directors of Education and District Education officers asking them to follow the systems and processes evolved by BREAD Society in operating BREAD Children's Libraries. This means that from now on responsible students (Voluntary Student Librarians, VSLs) selected by class teachers will operate the libraries and lend books to other students to take home, read and return. It is hoped that this will result in optimal usage of library books.
BREAD Society is taking an active part in the Little by Little campaign and it hopes to receive 60% matching grants subject to its status remaining as Super Star for which chances are very bright and subject to matching grants being available.
