Greetings from St Martins Schools,
We hope all of you have had a good start to the year. Here in Kenya, all is well. We are on for the New Calendar of the year 2024.
St Martins De Porress Boys school reopened on the 8th of January 2024. All the 50 boys reopened on the 8th of January 2024. The first term of this calendar year has 13 weeks with a one-week mid-term break from the 29th of February - the 3rd of March.
The school is still admitting new students in the first year of high school, 17 new boys have been admitted this far. The new admission is still ongoing and we are expecting more bos will join the school over time.
The school has a fully equipped and furnished computer lab, with 25 computers thanks to the support of volunteers from Fank Recruitment who visited the school last year, and a fundraiser for the same. in line with the changing technological needs, artificial intelligence, and online mode of doing things, the computer lab will go a long way in ensuring that the boys are equipped with the necessary skills to fit into the technology world.
Inflation is still a huge challenge and more boys will miss out on school due to financial challenges. As a school, we are faced with the challenge of the high cost of feeding the children and school supplies. We were hoping that with the rains last year, the would be a good harvest though it is the opposite, too much rain has destroyed food crops on the farms meaning the cost of food will continue rising.
All in all, we are grateful to have the year started and we are looking forward to a good year.
Your continued support goes a long way and we are more than grateful.
Thank you and best regards,
Alfred Aswan.
